One of the most beautiful days that any person can enjoy in Barcelona and Catalonia is certainly St. George’s day in the coast of Barcelona, on April 23rd. This date is recognized internationally as World Book Day or International Day of the Book, which you can enjoy culturally rich and vibrant in Catalonia. The connection with books and 23rd April was chosen in Catalonia in 1923 to honour the author Miguel de Cervantes who died on this date, in order to promote sells of books. Later on 1995, the UNESCO decided that the International Day of Book and Copyright would be celebrated on 23rd April as this date is also the anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. The 23rd April is a great excuse to commemorate great writers.
