The origin of the Mediterranean Traditions of the Wine in Catalonia dates back of the 4th Century in the Greek colony of Emporium and has continued until today. Bacchanals were celebrations in honour of the Greek God of the grape harvest, winemaking and wine, Dionysus (Bacchus for the romans) and were the origin of many of the wine traditional festivities that are still celebrating nowadays in Catalonia. In the 18th Century the trade in wine in Catalonia was the first source of income for people leaving in the countryside, specially business done with England and some Spanish colonies overseas. During the 19th Century the Modernism in Catalonia promoted the creation of Catalan Wineries with a pioneering spirit that became true works of art like the Wineries of Pinell del Brai, Falset, Gandesa, Nulles, l’Espluga de Francoí amongst others.

In recent years in Catalonia, small, traditional and mostly family run wineries are working hard to produce an ecologic and high-quality wine, already recognized by the experts all over the world. The love for the land, for the traditions and the well-done work, has revived their passion of winemakers. In Catalonia, there are many times to enjoy a Wine tasting. During your stay in the Coast of Barcelona, All Events Hotels offers you many gastronomic experiences, like a wine or cava tasting, a visit in a Bodega or to enjoy a fabulous picnic in the vineyards.  Don’t miss it and get in touch with @alleventshotels.
