Carnaval in the Coast of Barcelona.

Enjoy this festivity with All Events Hotels

One of the most outstanding experiences to enjoy in the coast of Barcelona is, without doubt, the Carnival or “Carnestoltes” how is called in Catalonia. The Carnival begins on the Fat Thursday, a day where the Catalan Gastronomy has an important role and goes one week long until the Ash Wednesday with the “Burial of the Sardine” an Spanish ceremony celebrating the end of carnival.

The word Carnival comes from the Latin “carnis levare”, to remove meat. The tradition of fasting during the 40 days of Lent, starts at the end of Carnaval and ends in Easter. Although is a Catholic Christian feast, it seems that we could find its origins in the Ancient Greece and Rome and their pagan feasts, the bacchanalians, where drunkenness, uncontrolled behavior and sexual activities were the principal characteristics.

All Events Hotels propose you plenty of gastronomic activities to do during your stay at the Barcelona Coast (alleventshotels.com).

In Catalonia, Carnival starts on Fat Thursday, a typical Catalan feast, with a tasty gastronomic Catalan experience. Traditionally it is a day dedicated to eating typical products, such as Catalan sausages: black one, white one or those made with egg, alone or with omelet (this day is also called the omelet’s day), all these products made from the pork and which are not allowed during Lent.

After Fat Thursday, some days full of life and fun are coming in the Barcelona Coast. People dress up, dance and with the anonymity given by the masks  and they might do things that would never dare to do. In Calella, Pineda de Mar, Santa Susanna or Malgrat de Mar, and in all Carnavals from the Barcelona Coast, the King of Carnival is elected, the King of the feast, the King of crazy of music and fun. The Carnival of l’Alt Maresme is the most popular in this region and bands of all over Catalonia are coming to participate in its parade.

Enjoy the different activities of Calella’s Carnival with the activities for singles or as a getaway for women, with your girl friends organized by All Events Hotels. (alleventshotels.com)
